HUNTINGDON MEN’S SOCCER OPENS THE SEASON WITH A TIE

EMORY, Va.  – Jack Allen scored once as the Huntingdon men's soccer team began the season with a 1-1 tie against Ferrum College.

Allen scored on an assist from Dallas Thomas in the 36th minute before Ferrum answered with a Stuart Bennett goal late in the second half. Keeper Jordan Osborne finished with four saves for Huntingdon (0-0-1), including two in the first overtime. Ferrum (1-1-1) attempted four shots in the two overtime periods.

"It was good to get the season underway," Huntingdon coach Kevin Ray said. "We were disappointed that we didn't play as well as we wanted, but we battled hard. This was something we can build on."

The Hawks were scheduled to play Emory & Henry College on Saturday but the game was called due to weather and will not be made up.

Huntingdon returns to action next weekend in Sewanee, Tenn. The Hawks play the University of the South on Saturday and Birmingham-Southern on Sunday.
