Huntingdon men’s soccer comes up short at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team gave up three first-half goals and fell to Millsaps 4-0 on Sunday. The Hawks trailed 3-0 after the first 30 minutes before holding the Majors to one goal in the final 60 minutes.

"During the early part of the season, we're moving guys around in different positions and trying to find what's going to work for us and help us improve as a team," Huntingdon head coach Timmy McCormack said. "We started a lot of new people today and it was good for them to get experience against a solid, well-coached team like Millsaps.

"We were also able to bring back two guys today who have been out with injuries (Chris Blight and Tyler Theriault). As we're bringing guys back, we're still adding new pieces and trying to find a groove offensively. We're going to keep working and continue to learn from these early season experiences."

Jack Allen, Rhett Williams, Stacy Terry, Brady McMillan and Blight each took one shot on goal for the Hawks (1-2).

The Hawks played three goalkeepers on Sunday. Matt Russell started the game and played 34 minutes and 53 seconds, allowing three goals and making two saves. Dominique Thomas played in goal for 44:15, allowing no goals and making eight saves and Alex Brown played the final 10:52 in goal, allowing one goal and making one save.

Huntingdon returns to action on Wednesday with its first home game of the season. The Hawks host Hiwassee at 3 p.m.
