MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team tied Millsaps College 2-2 on Tuesday at the Huntingdon soccer field. Inclement weather forced the game to end with 2:36 to play.

The Hawks (1-0-1) led the Majors 2-1 with less than three minutes to play, but gave up the tying goal just before play was called when Lukas Elmhammar found the net to bring the game to a tie.

Although the Hawks were disappointed in missing out on a win, the tie was still significant. The tie snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Majors, dating to 2004. The two goals scored also snapped a three-game scoreless streak against Millsaps in which the Majors won by a combined 11-0. Millsaps won 4-0 last season.

Huntingdon freshman Austin Stacey picked up his second collegiate goal in the 11th minute on an assist from Brendon Van Emelen to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead. It wasn't until the 75th minute when another goal was scored as Elmhammar found the net to tie the contest at 1-1.

Freshman Colton Savage broke through in the 79th minute with a header to score the Hawks' second and final goal on a Van Emelen assist from the left side.

Millsaps (1-0-1) took 16 shots as a team while Huntingdon took just nine. Dominique Thomas played all 87:24 in goal for the Hawks and was credited with five saves while Millsaps' Charlie Edwards gave up two goals.

The Hawks will be back in action on Friday as they play host to Southeastern (Fla.) at the Huntingdon soccer field at 4 p.m.
