Huntingdon men’s soccer loses close battle with Averett

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team scored a goal in the first half but fell to Averett 2-1 on Sunday.

Huntingdon's Austin Stacey scored on an assist from Rhett Williams in the 37th minute to tie the game 1-1. But Averett (6-6-1, 3-2 USA South) answered early in the second half to take the lead for good.

Williams and Colton Savage each took three shots for the Hawks (2-8-2, 0-4). Savage had two shots on goal. Brendon Van Emelen had two shots and Zach den Besten, Halston Michaud, Trevor Byrum and Desmond Ibie each took one shot.

Keeper Sebastian Garcia allowed two goals and made four saves in 90 minutes.

Huntingdon hosts Covenant at 3:30 p.m. on Wedneaday.
