Hawks come up short in battle with Hampden-Sydney

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team fought hard, but gave up a goal in the 27th minute and fell to Hampden-Sydney 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

This was first-year Huntingdon head coach Matt Cooper's first meeting against his former team. Cooper spent the past nine seasons as an assistant coach for the Tigers (4-1-0) and was part of 91 wins with the program.

Freshman Andres Quintero had two shots and two shots on goal for Huntingdon. Junior Zach den Besten had one shot and one shot on goal.

Killian Delmore, Mac Puller and Miguel Medina each took one shot.

The Tigers outshot Huntingdon 10-6. Hampden-Sydney held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Keeper Alex Brown recorded two saves and allowed one goal.

Huntingdon (1-3-1) opens USA South Athletic Conference play against Ferrum College on Saturday. The game is set for 2:30 p.m. at Samford Stadium.
