Hawks tie conference leader Maryville in 2OT

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit and battled back to tie conference leader Maryville 2-2 in double overtime on Saturday.

Maryville (11-1-2), which leads the USA South standings with a 5-0-2 conference record, led 2-0 at halftime before Huntingdon (2-8-3, 1-4-2 USA South) answered with two goals in the first 24 minutes of the second half.

Bo Jenkins scored Huntingdon's first goal a little less than 10 minutes into the second half. A goal by Dylan Wier tied the game 24 minutes into the second half.

From there, keeper Alex Brown and the Huntingdon defense denied the Scots. Brown recorded five of his 11 saves in the final 21 minutes of regulation and the two 10-minute overtime periods.

For the game, Maryville took 31 shots, including 13 shots on goal. Huntingdon finished with 13 shots, including seven shots on goal.

Wier led the Hawks with five shots (all shots on goal). Brendon Van Emelen took four shots (one shot on goal) and Jenkins took two shots (one shot on goal). Tyler DeJianne and Miguel Medina each had one shot.

Huntingdon steps out of conference play on Tuesday with a 3 p.m. game at Berry College.
