Men’s soccer loses to conference leader N.C. Wesleyan

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon men's soccer team honored five seniors on Saturday, but lost 4-1 to USA South Athletic Conference opponent N.C. Wesleyan.

The Hawks honored Zach den Besten, Karter Porter, Eathan Small, Austin Stacey and Brendon Van Emelen before the game.

A.J. Wadda scored his first of three goals for the Battling Bishops (9-4-0, 6-0-0 USA South) in the 40th minute, to give N.C. Wesleyan a 1-0 lead before halftime.

N.C. Wesleyan would go onto to score in the 49th and 60th minute to pull ahead 3-0.

Van Emelen scored on an assist from Porter in the 72nd minute for the Hawks (2-10-1, 1-6-0 USA South). The goal was his ninth on the season.  

The Battling Bishops netted one more goal in the 90th minute to close the game out.

Van Emelen had the only shot-on-goal for the Hawks. Conner Howard and Jean Jocelyn each took one shot.

Small recorded four saves and allowed four goals in 90 minutes.

The Hawks return to action when they host Berry College at 3 p.m. on the soccer field on Wednesday.
