Huntingdon softball splits with Messiah

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Huntingdon softball team earned a split with Messiah College on Saturday. The Lady Hawks took the first game 5-2 but fell 4-0 in the second game.

Melissa McClure picked up the win in Game 1, scattering six hits, striking out two and walking one in seven innings. Brooke Meadows took the loss in Game 2, striking out six, walking five and allowing two hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Brittany Richardson led Huntingdon (3-7) with two hits, two RBIs and a run in the first game. Richardson hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

Huntingdon scored its first run in the second inning on a Kaetlen Brown single that scored Kerri Reed. Jade Reynolds and Gabby Alcantar scored Huntingdon's final two runs in the seventh inning.

Huntingdon hosts Millsaps in a doubleheader on Tuesday. Game 1 is set for 1 p.m.
