Huntingdon closes softball season at Agnes Scott

DECATUR, Ga. – The Huntingdon softball team closed the season with a split at Agnes Scott on Wednesday. The Lady Hawks fell 7-1 in Game 1 and won 5-0 in Game 2.

Daisha Henderson was 4-for-8 with a run in the doubleheader, Heather McGuirk was 3-for-4 with two runs and four walks and Jamie Langford was 3-for-8.

Senior Anna Stephens (3-1) pitched a complete-game shutout in Game 2. Stephens struck out one, walked one and allowed four hits.

Huntingdon (20-18) finished with eight hits in Game 2. Henderson and Langford each had two hits.

A single by Tiffany Taylor scored McGuirk in the first inning to give Huntingdon a 1-0 lead. Back-to-back solo home runs by Jessica Swindle and Brandi Blair highlighted a three-run third inning for the Lady Hawks. McGuirk scored the first run of the third inning. Henderson scored the final run of the game on an error in the fifth inning.

Agnes Scott (10-24) scored five runs in the first three innings to take control in Game 1. Huntingdon had 10 hits in the first game, but left 12 runners on base. The Lady Hawks left the bases loaded in the second and seventh innings and left two runners on in the sixth inning.

Taylor drove in Huntingdon's run with a solo home run in the sixth inning. Henderson and McGuirk both finished with two hits in the game. Raina Lanier took the loss in Game 1.
