Lady Hawks fall to Emory and Agnes Scott

ATLANTA – The Huntingdon softball team lost to 18th-ranked Emory University and Agnes Scott on Sunday in the 3n2 Elite Event.

The Lady Hawks (1-3) fell to Emory 7-3 and lost to the Scotties 6-3.

Daisha Henderson had four hits for Huntingdon in the two games. Jamie Langford and Blake Rowland each had two RBIs on the day and Kala Rooney scored twice.

Against Emory (4-0), Huntingdon built a 2-0 lead before Emory took control in the middle innings. A Brandi Blair single scored Rooney in the first inning and a single by Henderson scored Jesse Dunn in the second inning. Freshman Katrina Harden scored Huntingdon's final run on a ground out by Rowland in the seventh inning.

Henderson and Dunn each had two hits in the game. Kerri Reed (0-1) took the loss for Huntingdon.

Against Agnes Scott (1-3), Huntingdon rallied from an early deficit and only trailed 4-3 in the fifth inning. But the Scotties added two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and held off the Lady Hawks.

A double by Rowland scored Rooney to give Huntingdon a 1-0 lead in the first inning. A double by Langford scored Rowland in the fourth inning to cut the Scotties lead to 4-2. Blair scored Huntingdon's final run on a sacrifice fly by Langford in the fifth inning.

Rowland and Henderson each finished with two hits. Raina Lanier (0-2) took the loss.

Huntingdon returns to action on Saturday at Millsaps. The Lady Hawks play Millsaps at 10 a.m. and Dallas at 2 p.m.
