Lady Hawks fall to No. 7 Texas Lutheran

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against seventh-ranked Texas Lutheran on Sunday.

The Lady Hawks battled but came up short 4-2 in Game 1 and lost 10-0 in Game 2.

In Game 1, the two teams carried a scoreless tie into the fifth inning before the Bulldogs (4-4) took a 2-0 lead. Texas Lutheran extended the lead to 4-0 in the top of the seventh inning before Huntingdon junior Raina Lanier hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.

In Game 2, Texas Lutheran took a 3-0 lead in the third inning and added to the lead in the final three innings.

Lanier and Lindsey Selph combined for all four of Huntingdon's hits in the doubleheader. Lanier was 2-for-3 with the two-run homer in Game 1 and Selph was 2-for-3 with a run in the first game.

Lanier (0-3) took the loss in Game 1 and Selph (0-1) took the loss in Game 2.

The Lady Hawks (0-6) travel to Belhaven for a doubleheader on Tuesday. Game 1 is set for 1 p.m.
