Softball ranked third in USA South West Division preseason poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Huntingdon softball team is ranked third in the USA South Athletic Conference West Division poll. The conference preseason poll was released on Wednesday.

Huntingdon received one first-place vote and totaled 34 points in the poll. Piedmont, the 2017 regular-season West Division co-champion, is the preseason favorite with six first-place votes and 48 points. Maryville is second with one first-place vote and 39 points.

Meredith leads the East Division poll with six first-place votes and 60 points. Defending conference tournament champion Averett is second with three-first place votes and 55 points.

Huntingdon opens the season at home on Feb. 10 with a doubleheader against Millsaps. Game 1 is set for noon.
