Huntingdon opens conference play with pair of losses to LaGrange

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team opened USA South Athletic Conference play with two losses to LaGrange on Wednesday.

Huntingdon fell 10-1 in five innings in Game 1 and lost 8-6 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Huntingdon trailed 2-1 after three innings before LaGrange pulled away with five runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning. Amber Wade scored Huntingdon's run on a sacrifice fly by Katie Dewey in the third inning. Lindsey Selph (2-4) took the loss in 3 1/3 innings.

In Game 2, tied 3-3 in the sixth inning, Huntingdon scored three runs to take a 6-3 lead. But LaGrange answered with five runs in the top of the seventh.

Amari Fleming went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases in Game 2 and Kaci Cochran hit a solo home run and finished with two RBIs and a run. Alyssa Singleterry had two RBIs and a run and Caitlyn Caffee scored twice. Madison Perryman and Claire Tomberlin each scored one run.

Haley Riddle (1-2) took the loss in 2/3 of an inning of relief in Game 2.
