Huntingdon splits with Dallas and Mount St. Joseph

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon softball team beat the University of Dallas and came up short against Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks beat Dallas 6-0 and fell to the Lions 5-2.

Kaci Cochran, Annie Nolan and McKenzie Ridgway combined for 10 of Huntingdon's 14 hits in the two games. Cochran was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, four RBIs and a run. Nolan was 4-for-7 with two runs and an RBI and Ridgway had three hits, an RBI and a run.

Against Dallas (3-3), Huntingdon (5-3) scored three runs in the first inning and three runs in the fourth inning. An RBI single by Nolan and Cochran's home run made it 3-0 in the first inning and a two-run single by Alyssa Singleterry and an RBI single by Ridgway closed the scoring in the fourth inning.

Cochran was 2-for-2 in the game. Cochran, Singleterry, Nolan, Hannah Vines, Caitlyn Caffee and Lydia Lewis each scored a run in the win.

Madison Hunt (4-0) picked up the win and earned her second complete-game shutout of the season. Hunt struck out six, scattered five hits and did not issue a walk. Mallory McCarty (0-2) took the loss in relief against Mount St. Joseph (2-0).

A two-run double by Cochran gave Huntingdon a 2-0 lead in the first inning. But the Lions answered with two runs in the second inning and took the lead with a run in the third inning.

Nolan finished the second game 3-for-3 with a run and Ridgway was 2-for-4 with a run.

Coming Up: Huntingdon, Dallas and Mount St. Joseph will play again on Sunday. Mount St. Joseph and Dallas will play at 10 a.m., followed by Huntingdon and Dallas at noon and Huntingdon and Mount St. Joseph at 2 p.m.
