Martin’s career night leads Lady Hawks to school-record 18th win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Junior Katie Martin turned in career highs with 26 points and five assists to lead the Huntingdon women's basketball team to a 93-67 win over Florida College on Monday night.

This was the final regular-season game for Huntingdon, which will make its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Huntingdon plays 19th-ranked Ferrum in the first round on Friday at Emory University. Game time will be announced on Tuesday.

With Monday's win, Huntingdon finished its home schedule with a 13-0 record at Roland Arena and has a 14-game home winning streak dating to the final home game last season. The win also set a new program record for wins in a season with 18. The previous mark of 17 was set during the program's second season in 1999-2000.

"This was a good way for us to close out the regular season. All 14 players got on the court tonight and we were able to get one last tune up before the NCAA Tournament," Huntingdon head coach Buzz Phillips said. "Katie Martin put on a show with 26 points. We've known she was capable of a game like this and she played really well tonight. All of the girls played well. That's important because we're going to need all of them to be playing their best on Friday."

Behind Martin's 26 points, Raven Prater added 13 points, four steals and three assists, Devin Douglas recorded 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals, Morgan Crawford added 11 points and five assists and Jodie Thomas pulled down 10 rebounds.
