Huntingdon women’s basketball opens season with win on the road

PENSACOLA, Fla. –Tan Munford and Pat Pickens each recorded double-doubles to lead the Huntingdon women's basketball team in a 68-59 win over Pensacola Christian on Tuesday.

The juniors combined for 39 points and 27 rebounds in the season opener. Munford scored a team-high 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Pickens added 19 points and led Huntingdon with 14 rebounds.

Senior Jodie Thomas added 10 rebounds and freshman Mackenzie Garmany scored 10 points. 

"I thought we played well in spurts tonight, but we still have a lot of work to do," Huntingdon head coach Buzz Phillips said. "This was the best Pensacola Christian team we have faced and it was a good starting point for us. As we move forward, we're going to have to take more shots and we're going to have do a better job taking advantage of our opportunities."

Huntingdon travels to Oglethorpe on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
