DEMOREST, Ga. – Huntingdon senior Pat Pickens stepped to the free-throw line a little less than eight minutes into Sunday's women's basketball game at Piedmont.

Needing two points to make Huntingdon history, the Anniston native calmly sank her first free throw. With her second free throw, Pickens became the Lady Hawks' career scoring leader.

Her eighth point of the game, the second free throw gave Pickens 1,415 career points. Former Lady Hawk and Huntingdon Hall of Famer Tiffany Jordan held the previous record of 1,414 points.

Pickens finished with 30 points in the 79-77 loss to Piedmont and now has 1,437 career points. She also had nine rebounds against the Lions.

Pickens scored nine of Huntingdon's first 11 points on Sunday to help Huntingdon build an eight-point lead in the first half. The Lady Hawks (12-11, 6-8 USA South) led 36-33 at the half and continued to lead until midway through the second half.

Piedmont (18-5, 11-4 USA South) pulled ahead by eight points, 71-63, in the final two minutes of the game but the Lady Hawks continued to battle. Huntingdon used a 12-5 run and pulled within a point, 76-75 on a Mackenzie Garmany 3-pointer with 14 seconds to play.
