MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Juliette Harp recorded a career-high 18 rebounds to lead the Huntingdon women's basketball team to a 56-48 win over Wesleyan College to earn its fourth win of the season.
The Lady Hawks (4-1) opened Tuesday's night game with an 8-0 run and took a 28-22 lead into halftime. Huntingdon led the Wolves by 15 points midway through the third quarter and went into the fourth quarter leading by 11.
Wesleyan (1-6) went on an 8-2 run to open the fourth and pulled within five points twice in the final 6:35 but the Lady Hawks were able to maintain the lead and close out the game.
Harp, who recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scored a team-high 13 points to go along with her 18 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Harp's 18 rebounds rank third in program history for a single game and are two short of Pat Pickens' record of 20 rebounds against Wesleyan last season.
Mia Hudson scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds while Savannah Ward added 10 points and five rebounds.
Huntingdon plays at nationally ranked Maryville College on Saturday at 1 p.m. Maryville is ranked 15th in the USA TODAY Sports Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll and 16th by D3hoops.com.
