MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team fell to 15th-ranked Maryville College 72-52 on Saturday in the conference opener for both teams.
Maryville (5-1, 1-0 USA South) set the tone early and built a double-digit lead in the first seven minutes of the game. Huntingdon (4-2, 0-1 USA South) pulled within nine points in the final four minutes of the first half, but Maryville carried a 14-point lead into the half. The Scots put the game away with a 20-8 run in the third quarter.
Jello Weatherspoon was Huntingdon's leading scorer with nine points and Juliette Harp had eight points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
Huntingdon returns to action on Dec. 12 at Roland Arena, hosting Belhaven at 2 p.m.
