Harp scores 1,000th career point in win over Methodist

DEMOREST, Ga. – Huntingdon senior Juliette Harp scored her 1,000th career point as the Huntingdon women's basketball team blew by Methodist University 71-48 on Friday in the Cancer Awareness Classic at Piedmont College.

Harp recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 23 points and 19 rebounds to push her career scoring total to 1,008 points. She is just the fourth Lady Hawk to reach 1,000 points during the NCAA era, joining Pat Pickens, Tiffany Jordan and Lori Bonds.

Behind Harp, junior T.I. Duncan recorded a season-high 17 points, three assists and a career-high six steals and Destinee Washington added eight points.

Huntingdon put the game away early, opening the game with an 8-0 run and led 23-10 at the end of the first quarter. Huntingdon extended its lead to 24 points in the second quarter, carried a 42-20 lead into the second half and led by as many as 36 points in the second half.

Quick Facts: As the newest member of the Lady Hawks' 1,000-point club, Harp is the program's fourth leading scorer during the NCAA era. Pat Pickens holds the program's NCAA-era scoring record with 1,473 points, followed by Tiffany Jordan with 1,414 points, Lori Bonds with 1,291 points and Harp with 1,008. Harp is currently second in career points per game with 13.1. Pickens holds the program record with 14.3 points per game … Huntingdon's 23-point margin of victory on Friday is the second largest margin of victory for the Lady Hawks this season behind a 45-point win over Pensacola Christian in the season opener

Coming Up: Huntingdon returns to action in the Cancer Awareness Classic at Piedmont College on Saturday. The Lady Hawks will play Greensboro at 1 p.m. (Central).
