Harp becomes first Lady Hawk to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team built a double-digit lead in the second quarter and never looked back in Sunday's 85-51 win over Brevard College.

The Lady Hawks led from the start, built a 20-point lead in the second quarter and extended the lead to as many as 36 points in the second half.

The win closed out the regular season for Huntingdon. The Lady Hawks will host Covenant in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Highlighting Sunday's win, senior Juliette Harp recorded her 1,000th career rebound. Harp, who is Huntingdon's NCAA-era leader in rebounds and the program's fourth leading scorer during the NCAA era, is the first Lady Hawk to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

In 91 career games, Harp has 1,263 points and 1,008 rebounds.

With 23 points and 15 rebounds against Brevard, Harp added to her season double-double total and continues to lead Division III with 23 double-doubles. 

Two other Lady Hawks just missed a double-double against the Tornados. T.I. Duncan had 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists and Mia Hudson finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Alex Lowery had nine points and a team-high three steals, Jordan Finn finished with eight points and Abiba Bernard had five assists.

Records: Huntingdon (16-9); Brevard (11-11)

Quick Facts: Duncan's five assists on Sunday pushed her season total to 93 and her career total to 201. The 93 assists are the second most in a season by a Lady Hawk during the NCAA era. Duncan is just the fourth Lady Hawk during the NCAA era to reach 200 career assists, joining Tiffany Jordan, Lori Bonds and Morgan Crawford. Jordan holds the program's career record with 242.

Coming Up: Huntingdon hosts Covenant College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.
