Harp named second-team All-Region

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Senior Juliette Harp added another accolade this week for the final season of her Huntingdon career.

Harp was named second-team All-South Region with the release of the D3hoops.com All-Region teams on Tuesday.

In the 17 seasons D3hoop.com has named All-Region teams, Harp is just the second Huntingdon women's basketball player to be recognized. Pat Pickens, the Lady Hawks' career scoring leader, was also a second-team selection in 2015.

Harp, a three-time All-Conference selection, was named first-team All-Conference and first-team All-West Division as a junior and senior. During her senior season, the 6-foot-2 forward helped lead Huntingdon to a 16-10 record while averaging a double-double of 18.2 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.

When the Lady Hawks' season ended, Harp led all of Division III with 24 double-doubles in 26 games and ranked in the top-10 in Division III in rebounds (356) and rebounds per game (13.7).

As a senior, Harp became the first Lady Hawk to reach 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. In her 92-game career, she finished as the program's NCAA-era leader in rebounds (1,018), rebounds per game (11.1), blocks (207) and field goal percentage (49.9), was fourth in scoring (1,283 points), second in points per game (13.9) and third in field goals made (520).

She set Huntingdon's NCAA-era season record with 191 field goals made as a senior and her 474 points this season were the second most by a Lady Hawk behind Pickens' 497 points during the 2014-15 season.

Harp's 356 rebounds this season broke the Huntingdon record of 319 she set as a junior and her 56 blocks this season are the third most behind the 71 blocks she had as a junior and the 59 blocks she had as a sophomore.

Harp turned in 10 of the top 14 single-game rebounding performances in program history during her career. This season she turned in five of the top six rebounding performances in Lady Hawks' history, including a program record 22 rebounds against Rust College.

Harp was one of four USA South Athletic Conference players named to the All-South Region women's team. USA South Player of the Year Zarkia Mattox of Ferrum earned first-team honors, Averett's Samm Chandler joined Harp on second-team and Salem's Sabrina Shepherd was named third-team.

Randolph-Macon's Kelly Williams was named South Player of the Year and Oglethorpe's Savannah LeGate was named South Rookie of the Year. East Texas Baptist's Rusty Rainbolt was named South Coach of the Year.

D3hoops.com selects men's and women's All-Region teams for the Northeast, East, Atlantic, Mid-Atlantic, South, Great Lakes, Central and West regions of the nation. More than 680 men's and women's players were nominated for the All-Region teams.
