Lady Hawks rally but fall to Pensacola Christian in final seconds

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team made a fourth-quarter comeback but came up short in a 58-56 loss to Pensacola Christian on Thursday in the LaGrange College Classic.

The loss was the first of the season for Huntingdon (2-1).

The Lady Hawks trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half and trailed by 15 points less than a minute into the fourth quarter. Behind 47-32, Huntingdon began to rally and outscored the Eagles 24-11 in the final 8:30 of the game.

Payton Kiser and T.I. Duncan combined to score 19 points during the comeback. A field goal and free throw by Kiser made it a 56-53 game with 48 seconds remaining. The Lady Hawks missed field-goal attempts on their next two possessions before Kiser connected on a 3-pointer with four seconds to play to tie the game, 56-56.

But Pensacola Christian (6-3) sank two free throws with two seconds to play to retake the lead and win the game.

Kiser led Huntingdon with 11 points and Duncan added 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Shaonica Thomas finished with six rebounds, Indya Lawrence had a team-high four assists and Abiba Bernard had three steals.
