Career-high scoring performances lead Huntingdon in win over MUW

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Seniors T.I. Duncan and Payton Kiser each turned in career-high scoring performances to lead the Huntingdon women's basketball team in a 92-78 win over the Mississippi University for Women on Saturday.

Duncan scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Duncan also had eight assists.

Kiser scored a career-high 23 points and was 7-of-9 from 3-point range. The seven 3-pointers are the second most in a game by a Lady Hawk during the NCAA era. Raven Prater set the mark with eight 3-pointers against Mary Baldwin during the 2013-14 season.

Behind Duncan and Kiser, Shaonica Thomas finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and a team-high four steals.

Huntingdon improved to 8-2 this season with the win. This is just the third time during the NCAA era the Lady Hawks have reached eight wins in the first 10 games.

Huntingdon set the tone early against MUW (10-3), building a 10-point lead a little more than five minutes into the game. Huntingdon pulled ahead to an 18-point lead late in the first half and led 47-31 at halftime.

Huntingdon took a 20-point lead, its largest lead of the game, 10 seconds into the fourth quarter on a 3-pointer by Kiser. MUW pulled within 11 points in the final minutes, but Huntingdon maintained a double-digit lead and closed out the game.

Notable: Huntingdon's 92 points against MUW are tied for the eighth most by the Lady Hawks during the NCAA era and are the most scored by Huntingdon since a 93-point performance against Florida College in Feb. 2013.
