Huntingdon stumbles against Maryville

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's basketball team started strong but couldn't hold off Maryville College in a 69-60 loss on Sunday.

The Lady Hawks scored the first nine points of the game before Maryville answered and tied the game late in the first quarter. The two teams matched each other evenly for the remainder of the first half for a 22-22 score at halftime.

In the third quarter, Maryville pulled ahead for good and took a 47-38 lead. The Lady Hawks continued to battle and pulled within three points, 53-50, on a Shaonica Thomas basket with 3:03 to play. But that was as close as Huntingdon could get as Maryville eased ahead and closed out the game.

Alex Lowery led Huntingdon with a season-high 22 points to go with five rebounds and three assists. Thomas added 15 points and T.I. Duncan and Hannah Parks each had six rebounds. Indya Lawrence finished with a career-high eight assists.
