Duncan earns third-team All-Region honors

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Senior T.I. Duncan was recognized as an All-Region performer by D3hoops.com on Monday.

Duncan was named third-team All-South Region. She is just the third Huntingdon women's basketball player to earn All-Region honors in the 18 seasons D3hoops.com has selected All-Region teams. Pat Pickens was a second-team selection in 2015 and Juliette Harp was a second-team selection last season.

A first-team All-Conference selection this season, Duncan helped lead Huntingdon to one of the best seasons in program history. With a 22-5 record, the Lady Hawks broke their NCAA-era record for wins in a season and also set the program's NCAA-era record with a 12-game winning streak. In their sixth season in the USA South Athletic Conference, Huntingdon advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the first time this season.

Duncan led Huntingdon with 15.4 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 2.1 steals per game. She was second on the team with three assists per game.

Duncan ended her career as Huntingdon's NCAA-era career leader in assists (285), ranked seventh in scoring (913 points), sixth in rebounds (548), fourth in steals (176), third in blocks (89) and field-goal percentage (45.8) and first in free-throw percentage (73.3).

As a senior, she scored 417 points, the fourth most by a Lady Hawk during the NCAA era. Her 33 points in a 72-62 win over LaGrange were tied for the fourth most in a game by a Lady Hawk during the NCAA era and her 13 field goals in the game were two short of the program's single-game record.

Duncan was one of three USA South Athletic Conference players named to the All-South Region women's team. USA South Player of the Year Amari Price of Piedmont earned first-team honors and Averett's Brooke Carthon joined Duncan on the third-team.

Virginia Wesleyan's Jayla Harris was named South Player of the Year and Guilford's Lindsay Gauldin was named South Rookie of the Year. Mary Baldwin's Ross James, the USA South Coach of the Year, was named South Region Coach of the Year.

D3hoops.com selects men's and women's All-Region teams for the Northeast, East, Atlantic, Mid-Atlantic, South, Great Lakes, Central and West regions of the nation. More than 700 men's and women's players were nominated for the All-Region teams.
