Huntingdon closes regular season with loss at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga.  – The Huntingdon women's basketball team fell behind in the second half and lost to Piedmont College 78-56 on Saturday.

With the loss, Huntingdon finishes fourth in the West Division of the USA South Athletic Conference standings and will host LaGrange in the first round of the conference tournament on Wednesday.

The Hawks played Piedmont evenly in the first half and the two teams were tied 25-25 at halftime. But Piedmont took control in the second half.

Piedmont used a 13-0 run to pull ahead to a 15-point lead late in the third quarter and continued to pull ahead in the fourth quarter.

Shaonica Thomas and Keturah Billen combined for 43 of Huntingdon's 56 points. Thomas matched her career-high with 26 points and also had eight rebounds. Billen added 17 points and six rebounds.
