Huntingdon women’s golf places 3rd in Coosa Invitational

ROME, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 331 at the Coosa Country Club on Tuesday and posted a two-round total of 665 to place third in the Coosa Invitational.

Tuesday's round tied for the fourth best round in Lady Hawks' history.

University of the Cumberlands, a NAIA program, shot 625 to win the Coosa Invitational and Trevecca Nazarene University, a Division II program, finished second in the 11-team field with a 633.

"We played really well today," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "We struggled a little with our putting, but we hit the ball well and played three shots better than Monday. It was exciting to see how well our girls played the past two days and this should create some confidence going into Jekyll Island."

Freshman LeeAnn Cahoon matched her first-round score with a 79 in the final round and finished the tournament tied for ninth at 158. Senior Saem Hur shaved four strokes off her first-round score with an 81 on Tuesday and tied for 19th with a 166.

Freshman Savannah Humber shot an 84 in the final round, two strokes better than Monday, to finish with a 170. Freshman Courtney Harville finished one-stroke behind Humber at 171 and sophomore Sydney Robbins shot 185 for the tournament.

University of the Cumberlands' Rachel Pingleton was the medalist with a 150, edging teammate and first-round leader Liz Stephens by one stroke.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate on March 14.
