Huntingdon’s Cahoon ties for second in Callaway Women’s Collegiate

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Huntingdon sophomore LeeAnn Cahoon tied for the lowest round on Sunday and finished tied for second in the Callaway Women's Collegiate.

Cahoon shot a 2-over-par 73 in the final round and shot a 10-over 152 for the tournament. The 73 is one stroke off the Lady Hawks' record of 72 Cahoon shot last fall. This was Cahoon's third runner-up finish in five tournaments since September.

Washington and Lee's Mary Frances Hall was the tournament medalist at 7-over 149. St. Andrews University's Paige Hartman, Dalton State's Erika Wardzinski and Milligan College's Cassidy Gibson finished in a four-way tie for second with Cahoon.

As a team, Huntingdon shot 339 on Sunday and 681 for the tournament to finish eighth. Dalton State was the tournament champion with a two-round 634. Washington and Lee was second at 636.

Behind Cahoon's 152, freshman Lindsey Huff shot 176, sophomore Courtney Harville shot 178 and sophomore Savannah Humber and freshman Kelsey Spivey each shot 179.

"This tournament was an eye-opener for our team. We expected to play much better than this," Huntingdon assistant coach Ashley Aguilera said. "Each of the girls know what they need to work on and our priority during the next two weeks is to turn our weaknesses into strengths.

"I'm proud of the girls for giving their all this weekend and I know we will be ready and come back stronger at Jekyll Island."

Huntingdon will play in the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate on March 13-15.
