Lady Hawks in 3rd after Rd. 1 of O’Brien National

GRANGER, Ind. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 320 in the opening round of the O'Brien National Invitational on Sunday. The Lady Hawks are tied for third entering Monday's final round at Knollwood Country Club.

The 10-team field features six teams that finished in the top 15 of the NCAA Tournament last season, including national runner-up Wittenberg.

Wittenberg shot 292 in the first round on Sunday and leads the field. George Fox University is second at 313 and the University of Texas-Tyler is tied with Huntingdon at 320. George Fox finished sixth in the NCAA Tournament last season and Texas-Tyler was fourth.

Wittenberg's Allie Lawwill turned in the best round on Sunday with an even-par 72. Huntingdon junior LeeAnn Cahoon is four strokes off the lead and in eighth with a 4-over 76. Junior Savannah Humber is tied for 14th with a 7-over 79.

Behind Cahoon and Humber, freshman Hallie Rice shot 81 in the first round, sophomore Kelsey Spivey shot 84 and junior Courtney Harville shot 86. Playing as an individual, freshman Katelyn Gilmore shot 84.
