Cahoon’s program-record 69 leads Lady Hawks

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Huntingdon senior LeeAnn Cahoon shot a 1-under-par 69 on Sunday to lead the field in the first round of the BSC Southern Shootout.

Cahoon's round is the first round in the 60s in Lady Hawks' history. Cahoon set the previous record of 72 in the fall of 2014.

"LeeAnn has been working hard in preparation for her senior season and it showed today," Huntingdon Director of Golf Dave Schreyer said. "This was a great way for her to open the season and we're looking for her to continue to play at a high level."

As a team, Huntingdon shot 308 on Sunday and is third in the 15-team tournament. The Lady Hawks are six strokes out of first entering Monday's final round at Highland Park Golf Course.

Berry College shot 302 and leads the field. Methodist University is in second at 306.

Sunday's 308 was tied for the third best round in Lady Hawks' history. Huntingdon shot a 301 last fall in the Golfweek D3 Fall Invitational, a 307 last spring in the Callaway Women's Invitational and a 308 last spring in the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational.

Behind Cahoon, sophomores' Hallie Rice and Katelyn Gilmore each shot 79 and are tied for 13th. Senior Courtney Harville shot 81 and junior Kelsey Spivey shot 89.

Playing as individuals, freshman Madi DeWees shot 80 and freshman Hannah Amburn shot 89.
