Gilmore leads Huntingdon in Rd. 1 of Joe Duncan Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon women's golf team is in third place after shooting 314 in the opening round of the Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational on Sunday.

Washington University in St. Louis is first in the field of six with a 302 while fourth-ranked Rhodes College is second with a 313.

Katelyn Gilmore led 19th-ranked Huntingdon with a career-best 1-over-par 73 in Sunday's opening round. The sophomore holds sole possession of second place and is one stroke off the lead.

"I'm extremely proud of Katelyn," associate head coach Ashley Crane said. "Her hard work is starting to pay off and I know she has many more great rounds ahead of her."

Gilmore's 73 is tied for third in program history for lowest individual round. Only Senior LeeAnn Cahoon has shot better than 73 for Huntingdon.

Samantha Haubenstock of WashU led the field with an even-par 72. Birmingham-Southern's Sarah Moon is second with a 3-over 75.

Cahoon is tied for fourth after shooting 76. Junior Kelsey Spivey is tied for 24th with an 82 while senior Courtney Harville is tied for 26th at 83.

Freshmen Hannah Tuttle and Madi DeWees are tied for 29th at 85.
