Lady Hawks place 2nd, Gilmore places 3rd in DIII Golfweek Fall Invitational

DESTIN, Fla. – The Huntingdon women's golf team placed second and junior Katelyn Gilmore finished third in the Division III Golfweek Fall Invitational.

The Lady Hawks shot 320 in the final round on Tuesday and finished with a three-round total of 945. Washington University-St. Louis won the 16-team tournament with a three-round 912.

Gilmore shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round and a 10-over 226 for the tournament. Gilmore finished two strokes out of first.

Washington University-St. Louis' Samantha Haubenstock and Washington and Lee's Mary Frances Hall tied for first at 8-over 224. 

Huntingdon freshman Olivia Hickson and junior Vanessa Leiterman each shot 234 and tied for seventh. Hickson shot a 79 in the final round and Leiterman shot 78 on Tuesday.                                                                                                

Rounding out Huntingdon's top five, sophomore Madi DeWees shot a three-round 252 and freshman Anna Beth Harris shot a two-round 270.

 

Head Women's Golf Coach Ashley Crane on placing second: "We didn't play quite as well today, but we hung tough and finished strong. We battled through very windy conditions and made the shots when it counted the most.

"To come in second at this event says volumes about the girls and our talent and potential. These girls are amazingly talented and proved it today, beating three teams ranked ahead of us."
