Lady Hawks tied for 5th entering Rd. 2 of Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's golf team shot 318 on Friday in the first round of the Jekyll Island Invitational.

The Lady Hawks are tied for fifth entering Saturday's second round. Eighth-ranked New York University leads the 21-team tournament at 12-over-par 300, 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon is second at 302 and 13th-ranked Methodist is third at 304.

Fifth-ranked Rhodes is fourth at 311 and 14th-ranked St. Mary's College is tied with Huntingdon for fifth.

Freshman Debra Ann Burdeshaw shot a 4-over 76 to lead Huntingdon. Burdeshaw is three strokes out of first and tied for 11th entering the second round. Three golfers are tied for the lead with a 1-over 73.

One stroke behind Burdeshaw, seniors Vanessa Leiterman and Katelyn Gilmore each shot 5-over 77 and are tied for 16th. Rounding out the top-five, freshman Abigail Cody shot an 88 and junior Madi DeWees shot a 91.  

 

Coming Up: Huntingdon will play in the second round of the Jekyll Island Invitational on Saturday.
