Lady Hawks start strong and finish strong against Oglethorpe

ATLANTA – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team took a seven-goal lead in the first half, held off a mid-game rally by Oglethorpe and picked up a 21-9 win on Monday.

Huntingdon built a 10-3 lead in the first half but only led 12-8 early in the second half. The first-year Lady Hawks (4-1) put the game away by outscoring the Stormy Petrels 9-1 in the final 26 minutes.

"I'm proud of the girls and the way all of them contributed to this win," Huntingdon head coach Liz Frisoli said. "It feels good to be 4-1, but we want to keep building and continue to improve as we get ready for Millsaps this weekend."

Huntingdon plays at Millsaps on Sunday at 4 p.m.

A total of eight different players scored for Huntingdon on Monday. Shannen O'Leary finished with five goals, an assist, five ground balls and six draw controls for Huntingdon. Jamie Reschke had four goals and three assists and Jen Price finished with four goals, an assist and four draw controls.

Briana Gress added three goals and two assists and Candace Williams scored two goals. Kalyn Spatol, Katie McLean and Bridget Lee each scored one goal. Spatol also had four draw controls.

Goalie Alexis McDonald finished with five saves.
