Huntingdon women’s lacrosse falls at Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team battled Millsaps early, but the Majors pulled away for a 19-9 win.

The loss was just the second of the season for the first-year Lady Hawks (4-2).

Huntingdon played Millsaps (4-3) evenly until late in the first half. A goal by Jamie Reschke tied the game 6-6 with less than six minutes left in the first half. A goal by Briana Gress gave Huntingdon a 7-6 lead with 2:42 left in the first half.

But from there, Millsaps began to take control. The Majors scored three goals before halftime and five goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take a 14-7 lead.

Shannen O'Leary scored three goals and had one assist for Huntingdon and Reschke finished with two goals and an assist. Gress, Candace Williams, Lonnitria Keenan and Kalyn Spatol each scored one goal for Huntingdon. Keenan also had an assist.

Williams and Jen Price each had six ground balls and Taylor Hinton finished with five ground balls.

Huntingdon hosts Otterbein on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
