Huntingdon women’s lacrosse edges Meredith in double OT

RALEIGH, N.C. – Huntingdon tied the game in the final seconds of regulation and scored in the final seconds of double overtime to beat Meredith 13-12 on Saturday.

Meredith took a one-goal lead with 29 seconds left in the second half before Shannen O'Leary scored on an assist from Jen Price with one second left to tie the game 12-12.

Huntingdon goalie Alexis McDonald made a save on the only shot taken in the first overtime. In the second overtime, O'Leary caused a turnover with 17 seconds left and Jamie Reschke scored the winning goal on an assist from O'Leary with five seconds remaining.

With the win, the first-year Huntingdon women's lacrosse team improved its record to 5-4.

O'Leary finished with five goals, two assists and seven draw controls, Reschke added four goals and caused three turnovers and Briana Gress scored two goals and had one assist. For the season, O'Leary leads Huntingdon with 25 goals, Reschke is second with 21 goals and Gress is third with 20 goals.

Price scored one goal, had two assists, five ground balls and four draw controls and Kalyn Spatol scored one goal. Candace Williams and Lonnitria Keenan each had one assist.

McDonald finished with 12 saves.

Huntingdon plays at North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
