Lady Hawks rally but fall short against Alma

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team scored a season-high 16 goals but couldn't keep pace with Alma College in a 20-16 loss on Sunday.

The Lady Hawks (0-3) fell behind by six goals in the first half and eight goals in the second half. Huntingdon rallied from the first deficit and pulled within two goals, 8-6, late in the first half. Alma (1-0) took a 20-12 lead with 10:40 left in the game before Huntingdon scored four goals in the final 6:58.

Jamie Reschke, Candace Williams, Lonnitria Keenan and Shannen O'Leary each scored three goals for Huntingdon. Jen Price added two goals, Briana Gress finished with one goal and an assist and Carolyn Smith had one goal.

O'Leary also had five draw controls and Reschke had three draw controls, three ground balls and was 2-for-2 on free-position shots. Price had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Goalie Victoria Krupa had 11 saves, 20 goals allowed, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Huntingdon travels to Point University on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game.
