Huntingdon falls to Ferrum in final minute

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team scored a season-high 18 goals but came up just short in a 19-18 loss to Ferrum College on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks (0-7, 0-2 USA South) scored three goals in 92 seconds to take an 18-17 lead with 1:25 to play. But Ferrum (4-2, 1-1 USA South) answered with two goals in the final 40 seconds, including the game-winning goal with eight seconds to play.

Nine different players scored for the Lady Hawks, with five players scoring multiple goals. Jen Price scored four goals, Briana Gress and Lonnitria Keenan each scored three goals, Jamie Reschke and Shannen O'Leary each had two goals and Candace Williams, Kate Heinrichs, Bree Brake and Carolyn Smith each scored once.

Keenan, Reschke, O'Leary and Smith each had one assist. Price also had five ground balls and O'Leary had eight draw controls.

Goalie Victoria Krupa had 10 saves, 19 goals allowed and two caused turnovers in 60 minutes.

Huntingdon plays Greensboro College at Samford Stadium on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
