Women’s lacrosse loses to Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team lost to Rhodes College 15-4 on Sunday.

After opening the season on Saturday, the Lady Hawks (0-2) couldn't find an answer for Rhodes.

The Lynx (2-0) opened the game with six straight goals before Huntingdon found the back of the net with a goal by freshman Ariana Kelty with 2:32 remaining in the first half.

Rhodes scored one more goal to enter halftime leading 7-1.

Senior Jen Price scored off a free position shot to open the second half and helped bring Huntingdon back within five. Rhodes answered with a goal before Lonnitria Keenan scored her only goal of the game.

Rhodes rattled off five straight goals to extend its lead to 13-3. Shannen O'Leary scored with 10:18 left but Rhodes closed the game with two more goals to take the win.

Price and Kelty each had one goal, two ground balls and one draw control.

O'Leary scored once, recorded one ground ball and had a team-high three draw controls.

Goalie Katie Bianco recorded 13 saves while allowing 15 goals.  

Huntingdon hosts Centre on Sunday at 11 a.m.
