Lady Hawks beat Montreat for first win of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team took the lead in the first half and earned its first win of the season with an 18-5 victory over Montreat on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks scored five goals in the first 10 minutes and carried a 12-4 lead into halftime. Huntingdon scored 10 straight goals at one point and outscored Montreat 10-1 in the final 35 minutes of the game.

Kaylee Andrews led Huntingdon with six goals on eight shots and had eight draw controls and three ground balls. Shelby Martin, Olivia Stinson, Sam Blount and Anita Rhodes each scored two goals. Blount had two assists, Stinson had one assist and three ground balls and Martin and Rhodes each had one assist.

Vanessa Maldonado had one goal, five ground balls and two caused turnovers and Savannah Ryan had one goal and eight ground balls. Elena Guy and Shelby Blair each scored one goal, Keirstin Cramer had four ground balls and Alex Teague had three ground balls.

Goalie Morgan Coppini had two saves, five goals allowed and three ground balls in 60 minutes.
