Hawks pick up third win of the season

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon wrestling team went 1-1 on Sunday afternoon, defeating Greensboro College 26-23 and losing to Ferrum College, 40-5.

The win against Greensboro marked the third win for the program during the NCAA-era.

Wyatt Miller (174 pounds) led the Hawks with two wins, winning by a technical fall, 19-4, against Greensboro and was the lone win in the match against Ferrum, winning by technical fall, 23-4.

Against Greensboro, Brandon Abejon (149) pinned his opponet in 5:57 while Cody Dixon (184) won by major decision, 17-4. Mason Blakeney (133) and Jesse Herron (197) each won by forfeit.

The Huntingdon wrestling team will make their home debut this season against Truett-McConnell and the University of the Ozarks on Saturday in Roland Arena. Match time is set for 9 a.m.
