Wrestling falls to NAIA Brewton-Parker

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon wrestling team lost 25-16 to NAIA opponent Brewton-Parker on Saturday.

The Hawks started the match with two losses in the 125 and 133 weight class, but a 5-3 decision by DeAndre Beck in the 141 weight class put Huntingdon on the board.

Huntingdon suffered two more losses and trailed 16-3, but Deon Maxwell (165) took a 12-0 major decision and Wyatt Miller (174) won by forfeit to pull the Hawks within three points.

The Barons took the next two matches to seal the victory, but Jesse Rowlen (285) closed the match with a 5-2 decision.

The Hawks return to action on Tuesday as they host Ouachita Baptist in Wilson Gym at 3 p.m.
