Third-year Hawks set program record with fifth team win of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon wrestling team took down NAIA opponent Allen University 46-6 on Saturday.
With the win, the Hawks set a program record with five team wins in a season during the NCAA era. Last season, Huntingdon won four events. This is the third season of competition as a NCAA program.
The Hawks jumped out to an 18-0 lead as Allen forfeited the 125, 133 and 141 weight classes.
Quintez Pearson (149 pounds) pinned his opponent in 1:17 to push the lead to 24-0 while the Hawks took the 157 weight class due to forfeit. Deon Maxwell took an 11-2 major decision to extend the lead to 34-0.
Wyatt Miller (174) gave Huntingdon its second pin of the day in 3:25. Austin Threatt (197) and Jesse Rowlen (285) closed the match with a pair of decisions.
The Hawks compete in the Southeast Wrestling Conference tournament on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.
