Huntingdon edges Division II Queens University-Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Huntingdon wrestling team won four weight classes, including the final match of the day, to beat Division II Queens University-Charlotte 24-23 on Sunday.
Trailing 23-18, Huntingdon clinched the match with a pin by Joseph Pearson in the 285-pound weight class.
The win was the fifth dual-match victory of the season for the Hawks. The five wins are tied for the second most in a season for the fifth-year program. Huntingdon won five dual matches during the 2016-17 season and set the program record with six wins last season.
The Hawks won three weight classes by pin and one by forfeit on Sunday. Huntingdon built an 18-14 lead after Andrew Smith (133 pounds) won by forfeit and Kaleb Fontenot (157) and Wyatt Miller (174) each won by pin.
Queens University won the 184- and 197-pound weight classes to take a five-point lead entering the 285-pound match.
