Hawks split in exhibition matches in Florida Duals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – The Huntingdon wrestling team competed against a pair of Division I club teams on Saturday in the Florida Duals.

The Hawks defeated Florida A&M University 42-12 and lost to the University of Central Florida 29-21.

Officially, matches against club teams do not count for season results and statistics, but the mat time and experience are still valuable as the Hawks prepare for the final portion of the season.

Andrew Smith (125 pounds), Michael Mort (149 pounds) and Robbie McKenna (174) earned wins in each match. Mort won by pin in each match and Smith won by technical fall against FAMU and by decision against UCF. McKenna won by decision against FAMU and won by forfeit against UCF. 

Against FAMU, Jacob Smith (133) and Austin Phillips (184) each won by fall, Saeid Ejmali (141) won by major decision and Kaleb Fontenot (157) and Kiefer Bangham (165) each won by forfeit. Against UCF, James Lucas (285) won by forfeit.
