USA South releases Academic All-Conference selections

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A total of 184 Huntingdon College student-athletes were recognized with the release of the USA South Academic All-Conference team on Wednesday. The student-athletes, representing each of Huntingdon's 18 athletic programs, were among the 1,702 USA South student-athletes named to the team.

Division III Week Student Spotlight – Tristan Powell

This week is NCAA Division III Week and member institutions across the country are celebrating the ninth-year event. Division III Week, which runs from Monday through Sunday, is intended to recognize the academic and athletic accomplishments as well as the campus leadership and community service efforts of Division III student-athletes. As part of Huntingdon College's participation in Division III Week, 18 student-athletes will be featured this week. Brooks Freeman, Madison Hunt and Tristan Powell are today's featured student-athletes.

Three Huntingdon wrestlers place in Cumberland Open

LEBANON, Tenn. – Three Huntingdon wrestlers placed and nine Hawks combined to win 14 matches in the Cumberland Open on Sunday. Quintez Pearson placed second in the 149-pound division, Andrew Smith placed fourth in the 125-pound division and Joseph Pearson placed fourth in the 285-pound division.

Hawks split in Ozarks Duals

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Huntingdon wrestling team split in the Ozarks Duals on Saturday. The Hawks fell to the University of the Ozarks 31-21 and beat Ottawa University 25-21.

Fontenot and Haury lead Hawks in Gator Boots Dual

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Kaleb Fontenot won three matches and Jack Haury won two matches to lead the Huntingdon wrestling team in the Gator Boots Dual on Saturday. Fontenot (157 pounds) earned wins by major decision against Millikin and Pennsylvania College of Technology before winning by pin against Luther College. Haury (197) won by decision against Millikin and Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Huntingdon competes against pair of NAIA teams

December 17, 2019

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon wrestling team lost to two NAIA wrestling programs on Tuesday. The Hawks fell to Thomas More University 25-16 and lost to Life University 40-0. Life is the 10th-ranked team in NAIA and placed third in the NAIA national tournament last season. Thomas More is not ranked but is receiving votes in the NAIA national poll.

Huntingdon SAAC heads athletic teams’ community service effort

November 25, 2019

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently helped raise a collection of more than 6,000 items for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. The effort was part of the USA South Athletic Conference’s Cans Across the Conference food drive. All 18 member institutions of the USA South collected non-perishable items to benefit local charities of their choosing.
