HUNTINGDON WOMEN’S SOCCER SCORES LATE TO TIE FAULKNER

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team rallied in the second half to tie Faulkner University 1-1 on Wednesday.

Freshman Katlyn Reynolds scored with a little less than 15 minutes remaining in the second half to tie the game. The Hawks took six shots in the final 12 minutes but couldn't break the tie.

"It was refreshing to see us come back from being down," Huntingdon coach Wes Anania said. "In the past, when we got behind, that was a death sentence for us. But this group of girls is learning to finish games. We're learning to find the back of the net when we need to. We just need to start finding it earlier and more often."

Reynolds' goal was her fourth in four games. Jessica Salinas had the assist. Salinas and Jaden Rountree each finished with three shots.

Huntingdon keeper Jenny Burnash recorded three saves.

Shanice Hart scored Faulkner's goal in the first 20 minutes of the game.

The Hawks (2-1-1) open Great South Athletic Conference play on Saturday. Huntingdon hosts Salem College at 1 p.m.

"We've got a good head of steam going forward," Anania said. "We want to get off to a good start in the conference. We know Salem is going to be a tough team, so we have to be ready when we step on the field."
