Huntingdon’s Tyson, Burnash and Salinas earn GSAC honors

DECATUR, Ga. – Three Huntingdon women's soccer players were recognized with the release of the Great South Athletic Conference awards on Thursday.

Senior Ginger Tyson and junior Jenny Burnash were both named to the All-Conference team. Freshman Jessica Salinas was selected to the All-Freshman team.

"I'm happy for all of them," Huntingdon head coach Wes Anania said. "All three of them are very deserving. Ginger and Jenny have worked very hard for us and Jessica came in and had a very strong freshman season. I hope this helps motivate our girls to keep working hard and we hope to add more all-conference players in the future."

Tyson, a defender and team captain, has anchored Huntingdon's defense for four seasons. During her career at Huntingdon, she has started all but one game, including a streak of 67 straight starts.

Burnash, the Hawks' keeper, recorded 106 saves and four shutouts this season. Salinas started in all but two games as a freshman, scoring eight goals and assisting on two.
