Women’s soccer picks up 10-0 win over Johnson

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Freshman Shelby Clark scored three goals, sophomore Kira Bohlke scored twice and sophomore Clara Tapplin had three assists to lead the Huntingdon women's soccer team in a 10-0 win over Johnson University on Sunday.

The 10 goals were the most in a game for the Lady Hawks (1-1) since a 14-0 win over Oakwood in 2010. Dating to last season, Huntingdon has posted four shutouts in its last six games.

The Lady Hawks took 33 shots on Sunday, including 18 shots on goal, and held Johnson (0-2) to one shot for the game.

"I'm delighted with the win," Huntingdon head coach Robert Milner said. "The girls have worked hard in the preseason and have stepped up in our first two games. We had a hard fought loss on Friday and we came out and played two good halves today.

"We're working to develop good habits that will make us a better team and help us later in the season. We still have a lot of work to do, but I'm pleased with the team's effort and attitude right now."

Clark scored her first three collegiate goals in a six-minute span in the second half. Bohlke opened the game's scoring with two goals in the first 27:05 of the game. Hayley Naker made it 3-0 in the 29th minute.

Christian Boldin and Samantha Ingram each scored once in the first half to give Huntingdon a 5-0 lead at halftime. In addition to Clark's three goals, Brittany MacCartney and Anna Raley each scored once in the second half.

Behind Tapplin's three assists, Raley, Bohlke, Ingram, Clara Zubrick and Kelley Everett each had one assist.

Keepers Brittany Houseman and Katie Bonner each played one half for Huntingdon. Houseman earned the start and Bonner recorded a save on Johnson's only shot.

Huntingdon returns to action on Saturday at noon at Agnes Scott.
